FUNNEL CAKE FRIES
Funnel Cake Fries are mouthwatering bite-size sticks that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. There's no need to wait for the state fair to enjoy these easy snacks you can make at home in just 20 minutes. Perfect for parties and get-togethers served with caramel sauce or marshmallow fluff.

Ingredients

  • Funnel Cake Batter (see note)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Frying and Serving
  • 3 cups vegetable oil
  • powdered sugar, optional
  • caramel sauce, optional
  • marshmallow fluff, optional

Instructions

  1. Funnel Cake Batter
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  3. In another medium bowl, mix eggs, sugar, milk and vanilla until frothy.
  4. Add in flour mixture and blend until smooth.
  5. Frying and Serving
  6. Add oil to a medium saucepan or deep fryer and heat to 350°F. Set aside a wire rack or a plate lined with paper towel.
  7. Add batter to squeeze bottle or pastry bag. Pipe the batter in long lines into hot oil and fry 30-60 seconds until golden.
  8. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries to prepared plate or rack. 
  9. Dust with optional powdered sugar and serve with optional dip(s). Enjoy!


Notes
If you don't want to make homemade batter, use a store-bought funnel cake mix instead and follow the package instructions.
